Our favorite folk-rock duo recently paid a visit to the fellas over at Daytrotter and delivered a pretty stellar performance, as has become expected.  Over six months after its release, I still can’t get enough of their debut album, Barton Hollow.  If you still haven’t listened to this record, you can get it for only $6 on AmazonMP3 right now. The highlight of their Daytrotter session is their incredible, stripped down and intimate version of The Smashing Pumpkin’s rock hit, “Disarm.” You can listen to that song below.  Head over to Daytrotter to hear the rest of the session.

Tinted WindowsYou may have heard rumors, and yes this band exists and it is not a joke.  Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Bun E.  Carlos (Cheap Trick) and Taylor Hanson (Hanson) have teamed up to form a superpop group.  I have had the privilege of previewing the album and it was everything I expected and hoped for.  People all over the blogosphere are finding themselves shocked at how enjoyable this album is.  But those same people have probably heard one song from both Hanson (“Mmmbop”) and Fountains of Wayne (“Stacy’s Mom”) and wrote them off.  But each of these guys have penned some pretty awesome, yet slightly sappy, pop songs over the past several years.  I don’t have any Tinted Windows for you to listen to yet, but here is a little bit on their origins to hold you over.
