So it seriously feels like the hottest summer ever. I was playing volleyball last night in 98 degree weather and it almost felt cool.  So to deal with the heat and to help make the hot summer nights on the volleyball courts more enjoyable, I made a pretty jammin’ summer mixtape. And as you will soon find out, I have been really into pop music this summer, partly because it goes well with the season, but mostly because I love to dance.  So I thought I would share my summer mixtape with you all in hopes that it might enrich your summer barbecue or beach volleyball parties. Hope you enjoy.

The Middle East

The title may be misleading because this has much more to do with Australia than the near East, but hang with me for a second.

So, I was down under a few weeks ago and was pleased to find the average Aussie’s taste in music superior to that of our own. During a party I found myself listening to Miike Snow and Passion Pit instead of Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha. It nearly brought me to tears. Along my trek (Dare I call it a walkabout?), I met a few music enthusiasts, one of whom I’m still trading suggestions with. We’ve gone through a handful of artists, my favorite of whom has been The Middle East. Now you see the title wasn’t all for naught.

The Middle East is a nice folksy band with a little perkier tempo than most. They just played at Coachella (which I despise for the record), so I assume they are picking up steam. They’re currently working on some new stuff which should come out soon, but for a temporary sample check out this music video.

Bleed on!

RW: Cult Logic Forever

miike_snowThere’s a popular mashup sloshing it’s way around the good ol’ web right now combining the talents of indie-electronic rocker Miike Snow and rapper Drake.

Lemme map out what was changed here.

(Miike Snows‘s “Cult Logic” – Vocals) (Drake‘s “Forever” – Music ) – Eminem =  The Hood Internet‘s “Cult Logic Forever

Incase mathematic symbols cause your head to spin, I just said that the mashup is the base track of Cult Logic with the vocal part of Forever, minus the Eminem section.

If anything, I’m just going to treat this song as something that helped bring Miike Snow to my attention. I’m huge on electronic-pop and this guy delivers.

So I hope that you find something of worth on this fine remix day. I hope your ears are satiated. Ω
