Drive-By Truckers on ACL Tonight!

The southern rock outfit, The Drive-By Truckers recorded a stellar performance on the legendary ACL stage back in September of last year. And tonight, the newest episode of Austin City Limits will feature five songs from that performance, followed by five songs from Ryan Bingham. Even with the recent departure of Jason Isbell, The Drive-By Truckers were left with three incredibly talented singers and songwriters in Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, and Shonna Tucker. Their southern style and story-telling lyrics really invoke feelings of nostalgia in me, and their most recent album, Brighter Than Creation’s Dark, is packed with so much emotion that whenever is played, I find it extremely hard not to stop what I am doing and focus all my attention on the songs. Which is probably what they deserve. So even if you’re not busy tonight, go ahead and set your Tivo to your local PBS, because you aren’t going to want any interuptions while soaking in these stellar songs.
