The deluxe edition of this New York based trio’s electronica/dream pop debut, Alpinisms, was released about 2 weeks ago and has been in surprisingly heavy rotation since then.  The single “Iamundernodisguise” somehow manages to lodge itself in my head everyday, which probably creeps people out as I constantly chant the chorus under my breath.  The rest of the album is equally as hypnotic, with lots of emphasis on rhythm and layered vocals.  This deluxe edition  include alternates versions, live cuts, demos and new mixes, plus an alternate take of the aforementioned song.  Let it make your ears bleed.

so i bought myself a little set up and am going to try to teach myself how to do this…i learned a little bit a few years ago but don’t remember much of it and all the recordings i did were like 1 and 2 tracks…all these demos will be good practice for when it comes time to do the film composing i’ve got lined up…

so hear is my first attempt at a protools session in 3 years, and my first attempt at a protools session over 2 tracks ever…haha…

Her talent never ceases to amaze me.

Sometimes I think, why bother with updating about Radiohead news?  I mean, most of their fans are so dedicated that they know about this stuff before it happens, so to write anything about it is already old news.  But it’s Monday and I am feeling crazy and this song feels just about right to start off the week.  Ominous and looming, Thom Yorke lets the drums and guitars build the tension for 2 minutes, then finally lets his vocals seep into the song, trying his best to bury them under the instruments.  Makes sense considering the lyrics:

I’m sure you were very scared for us, thinking that maybe the man finally took us down, or that maybe one of the staff died, but I assure you that things are very much okay with at least 75% of the staff (I haven’t really been in contact with Brady lately… sure hope he’s doing okay). So what gives then? Well, IHYEB is a fun project rather than a pay project for 1000% of all the staff here (infact we’ve only lost money on this site because hosting costs some serious green).

But I wanted to make a formal apology, as most of us are adapting to our new summer schedules.

In other very-related news….

My pride and joy, the Remix Wednesday column is now officially ONE YEAR OLD! To celebrate this momentous minor achievement, I’m going to start calling it the Remix of the Week, but will still be shortening it RW.

And just because it wouldn’t be IHYEB if I didn’t have some music in this, and it’s techiniquely still thursday, I give you:

My Three Favorite Remix Wednesday Remixes

1. Santigold – I’m a Lady (Diplo mix ft. Amanda Blank)

I could elaborate for ages on how much this song just always gets me. I always feel weird declaring this song (the original included) to be my favorite Santigold song, because…. I’m not a lady.

2. David Bowie – Rebel Rebel (Soulwax Re-Edit)

“I am a dj, I am what I play.” What a brilliant tag to put at the beginning of a remix. Soulwax proves their worth in gold with this solid track. BTW, that tag is snatched from a ’79 Bowie album…. and it’s in much better company inside that song than in D.J.’s music video.

3. The Presets – This Boy’s in Love (Lifelike Remix)

Perfection audialized? I love this remix so much, and it’s play count in my iTunes library proves it. Just listen to it and see if you don’t fall in love, much like the protagonist in the song.

Site barely running. Not using the regular theme. Every mp3 is gone, and so are all the images…. Dang it.

Update 2: 3:22am
After a lot of hard work, most of the site is operational, but all mp3′s & images are still gone.

Update 3: 4:00am
Heading to bed, tomorrow’s  Remix Wednesday post will work. Most July images back online, some July mp3′s back online, (only 4). Hope to be back at 100% by thursday.

Now I’m going to bed, almost all July MP3′s and images online. Will finish tomorrow.

Most of the site is working normally, most of what we lost was about stuff that wasn’t actually online. Like the 2.0 version of the site is gone. So we’re doing a rebuild….
