The Arcade Fire and Spike Jonze have teamed up to create a short film that was inspired by the band’s latest album, The Suburbs. The film was written by Jonze and band members Win and Will Butler. It is a 30 minute short film based on the album and will premiere this weekend at the Berlin Film Festival. According to Consequence of Sound the film is slated to be released on DVD in May along with an expanded reissue of The Suburbs. Below is the trailer for the film that also serves as a music video for the title track.
So I love cover songs. It is one of the greatest joys to hear an artist take someone else’s song and make it his own. Now I know I have promised this before, but I really mean it when I say to you this time that I plan on bringing you a new great cover song every week. So to start it off, this week I bring you a new Iron and Wine cover in honor of their new album that came out last week. Here is a performance by Sam Beam and his sister of New Order’s classic song “Love Vigilantes” on Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon. Once again Beam has managed to pull off the impossible by taking someone else’s song and making it much better than the original.
I get tons of emails. Well… maybe ounces, who knows how much they weigh… anyways… i got an interesting email about a mix that was 90% made up of sounds and speech from the disney animated film Alice in Wonderland. I checked it out, and it was tight. THEN it got better.
So first lets start with what I got first.
This mix is super dope, super chill, and super ambient.
But i said it gets better…. The next part you’re gonna have to go off-site to see, but is well worth it.
I also found this site called YooouuuTuuube, and it offers another way to visualize it.
If you enjoy the track, be sure to go over to the artists Last.fm page and pick up the MP3.
Well first I must apollogize my for dissapearance last week, midterms and such, but this week I’m back with something excellent.
I know i’m always talking about how I’ve got some new kind of remix, but this week. I’ve outdone myself.
I’ve brought along a visual aid to help me, and it’s something special in it’s own right. ( I recommend going to the Vimeo website and watching it in HD)
This remix is captivating. I love it. It’s been on repeat in my office for two weeks. It’s classical nature, yet vibrant breakbeats make me feel like I’m in an italian spaghetti western of my own.
