Irish singer/songwriter, Glen Hansard, of The Frames and The Swell Season fame, stopped in to record another Tiny Desk Concert at the NPR offices. If you’ve never seen one of these intimate concerts, you are really missing out. Imagine one of your favorite artists just showed up at your office and decided to sit behind your desk and play a short little set for you. That’s exactly what the Tiny Desk Concerts are, and this particular show is pretty spectacular. Hansard came in and played a short little acoustic set that included 3 songs from his excellent new album, Rhythm & Repose. The other 2 songs he performed were an unfinished song that you won’t find on any of his albums called “Lucia” and “Come Away to the Water”, one of the 2 songs that he penned for the Hunger Games Soundtrack. I especially loved getting to hear Hansard play “Come Away to the Water”, as this song was unfortunately performed by Maroon 5′s Adam Levine on the soundtrack. Enjoy this tiny desk concert and be sure to check out his new album. Rhythm And Repose is one of our favorite albums of the year so far and is easily the best work he has recorded since 2007′s ‘Once’ Soundtrack.
