The Bird & the Bee on Jimmy Kimmel
Believe it or not, early and late night talk shows can be a great way to get introduced to great new music. Each week there are several up and coming artists that are getting their shot to prove to the world that they are where its at on broadcast television. But there are even more performances by artists that are completely talentless and are just a by-product of our image obsessed culture. And that is where we come in. Since there are like 6 or so talk shows each weeknight that have musical guests we are going to help point in the right direction. You are obviously not going to start watching six hours of talk shows each night, just to hear a fun new band. So from now on, we are going to do our best to let you know when there are some performances we think you might enjoy.
To start us off, we have The Bird and the Bee playing tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They will undoubtedly be performing a song of their new album that was released just last week, Ray Guns Are Not Just the Future. This indie-jazz duo made up of multi-instrumentalist Greg Kurstin and vocalist Inara George, have created something quite unique and very enjoyable. If we’re lucky they’ll play one of the few upbeat tracks from the album, and a personal favorite of mine, “Love Letter to Japan.” Either way, it should be an entertaining performance.
